Celebrating National Dog Day in a Paw-tastic Way!

National Dog Day is on August 26 and here at NEXT one of the mottoes that drives us is family first, and that includes our 4-legged best pals. This year we decided to celebrate in a big way and all you have to do is send a picture of your dog to info@nexttrucking.com in order to take part in this campaign.

For every picture we receive, we’re going to donate $5 to a charity named Operation Roger. The organization helps various animal shelters reconnect dogs with their owners, relying solely on a network of truck drivers to physically move the pets.

Here’s how it works:

  • A hypothetical family moves from Los Angeles to Kansas, but as often happens during moves, their dog is lost. Thankfully, when animal control finds the little bugger and scans her microchip, they identify and contact the owner.
  • Now, it can be hard for an owner to get back to LA having just moved, so this is where Operation Roger steps in. The organization looks across its network of drivers to identify the best way to reunite the dog with her owners. In some cases, it may be a relay solution (one driver goes from LA to Vegas with the dog, and then hands it off to a driver heading to Kansas), it may even include boarding at volunteer houses for a few days here and there.

Let’s make this National Dog Day un-fur-gettable for all those families wishing to reconnect with their pets!
